Longer description:
This is a 3-d General Ciculation model of the thermosphere and ionosphere of Jupiter. Its atmosphere is assumed to be Hydrogen/Helium. Stellar EUV input is the main heating source and H3+
ion a significant coolant. This is a place-name for several models. The original JIM is a highly-developed thermosphere-ionosphere model which has a 4-second time step. A new version using a simplified scheme runs faster but includes less chemistry and has a simplified auroral input
